The interpretation of a lobster roll here involves a soft, buttery croissant packed with sweet lobster meat that has been augmented by the addition of chopped tarragon, while classic dishes like baked haddock stay true to New England tradition, down to the Ritz cracker crumble.

Metzy's, our favorite Mexican food truck, has expanded and now includes a physical location in Newburyport. Try out the new restaurant, or for a beachside lunch, find the truck where it's usually parked at the Plum Island airfield.

Also a bit closer to Blue, Bob’s is a one-stop shop for fried seafood, clam chowder, and a classic New England lobster dinner. Stop by and pick up a clam bake to take to the beach, or eat at one of the no frills picnic tables. Bob’s also serves Richardson's Ice Cream, so swing by for a scoop.

Located just minutes from downtown Newburyport, Riverwalk Brewing has been brewing award-winning craft beer since 2012. They have a state of the art production facility with a spacious taproom, a beautiful beer garden set along the rail trail. Their full kitchen serves highly acclaimed pizzas, amongst other items. look for their wind turbine and solar panels, which provide 99% of their brewing energy!

Just about the best bagels north of Boston (in our humble opinion), this tried and true local joint has served Newburyport for almost 20 years. Try the asiago with avocado spread.

Did you know that Newburyport is the birthplace of the US Coast Guard? Honor the town’s maritime heritage and unique role in American history at this carefully restored museum.

With plenty of outdoor activities, Newburyport is also home to some can’t miss indoor attractions as well. The Firehouse is a cultural mainstay in the Merrimack Valley, staging productions, programs, and exhibitions year-round in its nearly 200 seat theater.

Situated just beyond Newburyport and the Merrimack River, the Gulf of Maine is a hub of whale activity from May to October. The spacious Captains Lady III offers front row viewing of Humpback, Finback, and Minke whales.

Offering cocktail sunset cruises and half or full-day charters, Northeast Yacht Charters is the perfect way to see Plum Island/Newburyport from the water. Their service begins in May on the Votre Sante, vessel a Grandbanks Eastbay 43 that's docked in Newburyport. 

A 4,662-acre sanctuary offering many habitats for native birds, from beaches and sand dunes to salt marshes and maritime forests. In the wintertime, you can expect to see a variety of ducks, cormorants, grebes, and northern species that migrate south to warmer waters.
