The Sunset Club is a casual beach restaurant and bar with nightly sunset views, and boasts outdoor seating for 130 guests with pristine views of the historic Great Marsh, Merrimack River and the stunning nightly sunset. Just a half mile from Blue's front door, this is our go-to for the nightly party!

Insider Tips

The Sunset Club is what Plum Island has been missing! Until now, there hasn't been a nice outdoor space to haven a drink and enjoy the salt air. The owners are locals and restaurateurs through and through - you can see it in the design and taste it in their food and drinks. It's an island icon already!

Did you know that Newburyport is the birthplace of the US Coast Guard? Honor the town’s maritime heritage and unique role in American history at this carefully restored museum.

 Firehouse Center for the Arts

With plenty of outdoor activities, Newburyport is also home to some can’t miss indoor attractions as well. The Firehouse is a cultural mainstay in the Merrimack Valley, staging productions, programs, and exhibitions year-round in its nearly 200 seat theater.

Situated just beyond Newburyport and the Merrimack River, the Gulf of Maine is a hub of whale activity from May to October. The spacious Captains Lady III offers front row viewing of Humpback, Finback, and Minke whales.

Offering cocktail sunset cruises and half or full-day charters, Northeast Yacht Charters is the perfect way to see Plum Island/Newburyport from the water. Their service begins in May on the Votre Sante, vessel a Grandbanks Eastbay 43 that's docked in Newburyport. 

 Parker River National Wildlife Refuge

Parker River National Wildlife Refuge A short walk away

A 4,662-acre sanctuary offering many habitats for native birds, from beaches and sand dunes to salt marshes and maritime forests. In the wintertime, you can expect to see a variety of ducks, cormorants, grebes, and northern species that migrate south to warmer waters.
